DK3 Baia Counter Stool with Wooden Back
As a tribute to Danish furniture design, the Japanese designer Kensaku Oshiro has created the DK3 Baia Counter Stool, that exquisitely unites Danish and Japanese design aesthetics.
The inspiration from a bay is clearly reflected in the curved, C-shaped signature backrest, which brings a soft contrast to the raw components of the frame.
Baia Counter Stool features an extremely advanced construction that requires a wide range of techniques and a high level of craftsmanship.
The frame is available in either chrome-plated or powder-coated steel and is constructed by using a complex welding technique. It consists of a seat frame made from flat steel and thin, bent steel tubes with a small rounding at the end of each leg. The short distance between the front legs makes space and visibility to the rear legs, creating symmetry and highlighting the fine balance between the vertical lines of the thin steel tubes and the striking horizontal elements.
The C-shaped backrest is available either in an upholstered version or in solid wood. The solid wood backrest is made by using a special steam-bending technology and is subsequently hand-sanded. The upholstered backrest is hand-sewn and comes in a wide range of fabric and leather options. The soft, upholstered seat provides excellent seating comfort and is available in both leather and fabric.
The diverse features of each component are perfectly balanced in the design and give the stool an elegant lightness and a truly unique expression.
